Matchmaking Programme

Pairing well matched rescues with people whose lives could be transformed with the right dog

Assessment

  • We evaluate the person’s lifestyle, needs and goals
  • We assess potential dogs for temperament, resilience and trainability

Matchmaking

  • We connect only when we believe the match is right
  • We prioritise the emotional and practical fit over breed or appearance

Integration & Training

  • BBWD’s one-to-one training programme with the new handler
  • Focus on building trust, communication and routines
  • Support for both dog and human during the adjustment period

Ongoing Support

  • Follow-up check-ins
  • Troubleshooting behavioural or integration issues
  • Continued access to BBWD’s resources and community
  • Our guarantee:
    • If the match is not working, the dog can be safely returned
    • We continue to review the selections until the right match is found

Why This Works

  • Rescue dogs often have huge untapped potential
  • People in transition (mental health recovery, reintegration) need stable, non-judgemental companionship
  • Our method aims to heal  both ends of the lead, reducing the risk of failed adoptions
