I learned first-hand how powerful the bond with a dog can be. If you have ever loved a dog - or witnessed it - you already know what I mean?
When I rescued Sid, I had no idea he’d end up rescuing me. What began as companionship became something deeper. He gave me structure when life was difficult; he gave me purpose when I didn’t know what came next; he taught me how to slow down, how to listen, how to trust again.
Sid gave me the courage to walk away from my old world and build a new life with meaning - rooted in the belief that dogs can help us all.
I believe the most powerful transformations in life come through connection - connection to ourselves, to one another, to nature and to something greater. Dogs can't solve everything but for many they can be a renewed connection with ourselves.
When I adopted Sid - a four-year-old untrained stray lurcher - I took four days off work just to teach him the basics before taking him to the office. He now travels everywhere with me; even sharing a business-class flight on the journey that brought us to Costa Rica.
Our connection didn’t come from force or “perfect” training. It came from presence, mutual trust and learning to communicate in a shared, intuitive language.
It made me wonder: was this just a beautiful accident or could others experience this too?
To understand what made our bond so powerful, I began studying dog behaviour and training. I started with a comprehensive dog training course, and subsequently focused on dog reactivity and aggression, and training assistance dogs to help people with mental health issues.

You don’t need a diagnosis to need healing. You don’t need a prison sentence to feel trapped.
You don’t need to be a soldier to carry wounds. We all need help sometimes.
And dogs - when we truly let them in - have a way of reaching us in a way that words can’t.
Because what we give them, they return a hundredfold - and that’s the foundation of any meaningful connection.
The more I understand dogs, the more I understand people too.
